Stone Cold Lead

Figure Painting

Commission Information

I paint 28mm fantasy, sci-fi and historical models. Generally I only paint 'human sized' figures so no monsters, large pieces, vehicles or war machines. I can work to a specific brief if necessary or be left to come up with colour schemes and designs myself. Sometimes, especially with historics I may require reference material to be supplied.

Models are painted in acrylics and given two coats of matt varnish afterwards.

Prices can vary depending on the models but most figures will cost between £30 and £50 each. Very complex models may cost more as will Larger pieces.

Multi-part models and figures that just need a lot of clean up may incur additional charges. As may larger numbers of models. Contact me for details.

A few additional points

  • I’m happy for clients to arrange to have models sent directly to me from retailers. If necessary I can order models myself but I will require payment for those items before ordering.

  • Anything sent from outside the EU might incur customs charges. It’s very unlikely but it does sometimes happen. These charges will be passed onto the customer.

From Royal Mail’s website as of May 2015:

Any package assessed as being liable for customs charges will also incur a Royal Mail handling fee of £8.

Any goods imported into the UK over the value of £15 are liable to import VAT.

Gifts between private individuals over the value of £36 are also liable for VAT.

Goods and gifts over these values may also be liable for customs duty.

  • I can give rough estimates as to when I might be able to begin work on a particular commission but sometimes jobs do overrun which may affect subsequent commissions. I also paint for a number of manufacturers and may have to prioritise those jobs which can also affect my schedule.

  • I may split large commissions into a number of smaller groups to spread the work out. This stops me going insane and means customers can spread the cost out as well.

  • Once a commission is complete I’ll email pictures of the finished work and send a Paypal invoice for the work and return shipping.

  • Return Postage. Finished models will be well packed and sent using a suitable insured delivery service. I usually include a £1 packing charge per parcel to cover the cost of materials.

For UK delivery I generally use Royal Mail’s Next Day Delivery service which offers insurance cover up to £1000. The average cost per parcel is around £8.

For overseas delivery I will use Royal Mail’s Tracked and Signed service where possible. Some locations only have a Tracked or a Signed For delivery option though. The maximum insurance cover per package is £250! More expensive commissions will therefore ideally be split between multiple parcels. The average price per package is £10 - £15. If required I will send more valuable commissions as a single package but that is at the customers risk!
